FlightView recently surveyed 2300 mobile travelers (via FlightView’s app) asking what extras they want most, and what extras are they willing to pay for. Of the 2300 travelers, 37% were business travelers and 63% were leisure travelers.
Totally not surprising, the findings show that 50% of travelers will pay for premium in-flight services and amenities. While we might expect Wifi (64%) and in-seat charging (50%) to top the list of wants, I was surprised to see that 22% of travelers would pay extra to exit the plane sooner. Another notable stat, more than 60% of Millennials are willing to pay for premium services.
It’s quite common to pay extra for premium seating, which often consists of exit rows and seats closer to the front of the plane. Essentially, those seats are already exiting faster. I’m not sure if it would be logistically possibly to sell early deplaning upgrades and not have the passenger toward the front of the plane.
The survey also revealed that 60% of travelers will pay for premium services (priority bag claim, temporarily check luggage, etc.) at the airport, too. For more information, check out the infographic below or you can view the full survey results here.
