Time Lapse of Charlotte, NC from the 22nd Floor of the Hilton Charlotte Center City

I recently stayed a few nights at the Hilton Charlotte Center City, which is located in Uptown. It’s a great location, walk-able to most places in Uptown and right near the Lynx light rail line. Plus, I had an awesome room on the 22nd floor that looked north.

From my view you can see the Charlotte Transit Center, Spectrum Center, EpiCenter (sort of) and so much more. Using my GoPro Hero4 (and a few items to prop it up and cover it with a black scarf, so the reflection was minimized) I was able to capture about 36 hours, starting at about 10:00 p.m. on March 14 and finishing about 11:00am on March 16.

If you’re in Charlotte for work (especially if you’re at the Convention Center), I would definitely recommend staying at the Hilton Charlotte Center City. Sadly, I was pretty busy with work on this trip and didn’t get to venture out of the hotel very much – but did get some time in the evenings to walk around the neighborhood. The neighborhood is very safe and there are amazing restaurants like 5Church, The King’s Kitchen, and The Cellar at Duckworth’s (all places I’ve been to on previous trips and highly recommend) within about 10 minutes of the hotel.

You can also check out my hotel room tour of room 2211 at the Hilton Charlotte Center City here. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel and in lieu of a gym or pool, it’s connected to a really nice YMCA and hotel guests have full privileges. Additionally, the hotel restaurant has nightly specials and I highly recommend going on Thursday during $10 burger night – or check out the daily lunch buffet. It was only $10 and you can bill the restaurant to your room to earn points!

I’m am enjoying creating these time lapse videos, and have a few others on this playlist. I hope to create a few more during my next few trips, so stayed tuned for that.

And as always, I may have affiliate links in this post. But I’m always genuine with my opinions.

  1. Sunrise time lapses are the best! Loved yours. Keep them up! And I’ve flown through Charlotte a ton (and was trapped there for ten hours back in June due to storms in NY…) but have never explored the city! I need to change that.

What a cool idea for a video! I loved seeing the city wake up:) I’m curious – how did you keep your gopro powered for 36 hours? Thanks for sharing! Hope you get to explore the next city more!

    • I use this case, which has an opening for the cord. Then I keep it plugged in and put a note for housekeeping that says “filming in process, please do not touch” as one time I had housekeeping move it and I had 6 hours of the desk.
