RV Toilet Leaking? It’s Probably the Valve

July 7, 2025 by solestraveling
rv toilet leaking

There’s always something to fix in the RV. Most of it’s minor—tighten a hinge, reset the fridge, figure out why the water pump’s acting weird again. But when the toilet starts leaking, it feels like a bigger deal. Messier. More annoying. And honestly, kind of intimidating the first time. So when we pulled into the … [Read more…]

May 27, 2025 by solestraveling
woman with turkish towel with hat on at beach with rv in distance

This post is inspired by my mom, who just sold her house and is about to start full-timing. She asked me how many towels we actually use in our RV—and as I started to answer, I realized it might be worth writing down. Because RV life brings its own set of towel challenges: limited space, … [Read more…]

The Best RV Hose Setup for Full-Time or Weekend Travel

May 21, 2025 by solestraveling
hoses for rv

When we first hit the road, I assumed we’d need a hose. Maybe two if we wanted a backup. Something safe for drinking water and we’d be good to go. But RVs come with multiple water ports—each with its own purpose. You’ve got a city water connection for your fresh water. A separate inlet for … [Read more…]

What It Was Like Living in a Tiny RV Trailer While 8 Months Pregnant

April 13, 2025 by solestraveling

So… yes. I lived in a tiny travel trailer during my third trimester. From July 10 through September 30, I was five to eight months pregnant, working full-time, and living in an R-Pod 192 with my husband, our dog Frank, and an increasingly large belly. Why? Our house was under construction. And I mean fully … [Read more…]

12 Quiet Surprises I’ve Grown to Love About Full-Time RV Life

rv and jeep in a woodsy camping site

When we first talked about doing this, my husband swore I’d hate not having a bathtub. He said I wouldn’t last a week in a tiny trailer. I reminded him I’ve always been outdoorsy—and that I’d be perfectly fine in a van down by the river, thank you very much. And here’s the thing: I … [Read more…]

propane in the west

If you travel by RV, refilling propane is part of your everyday life. It powers your heat, your hot water, your stove burners—and maybe even your Blackstone if you’re cooking outside. But when your tank starts running low, the question becomes: where’s the best place to refill? Here’s a breakdown of the most common propane … [Read more…]

The One Travel Item I Never Leave Home Without (And It Could Save Your Life)

broken smoke detector

There’s always that one thing you pack before every trip. Some folks won’t fly without their lucky hoodie. Others swear by packing cubes or a silk pillowcase. For me, it’s something a little less glamorous—but a whole lot more important: a smoke and carbon monoxide detector. I know. It doesn’t exactly scream “adventure,” but it’s … [Read more…]

Want to Be a Great Camp Neighbor? Don’t Do These 17 Things

April 1, 2025 by solestraveling

RV camping etiquette isn’t just about following posted rules—it’s about being a good neighbor in close quarters. Morning coffee under the awning. The crackle of a campfire at dusk. That moment when the stars finally pop through the trees and it feels like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. But nothing ruins the magic … [Read more…]

RV prices have shot up since COVID, and buying used is one of the best ways to get into a better rig without wrecking your budget. And honestly? A lot of used RVs are barely used. Some sat in storage most of their life and still have that “new rig smell.” But here’s the thing: … [Read more…]

Sauna mornings and sauna nights is the routine her Sauna mornings and sauna nights is the routine here in the Upper Peninsula. Even my toddler settles right in (on the bottom level, of course) like she’s known this her whole life. She may be only 1/8th Finn, but she def got the sauna gene.

The sauna has become this warm, steady addition to our days, a pause we all look forward to.

And...If a sauna company wants to sponsor our little ritual, the door’s open… just not the sauna door, we don’t want the heat escaping.

Also, it's hard to throw water on the rocks while holding a phone.

I don't know. But I've missed the nomadic work life and glad to be living it again, even if only for a month.

Now I'm not saying it will stop my daughter from pushing the screen out, but it is an extra barrier.

Also, it will definitely stop my dog from not realizing there is a screen there and just going outside (which he's tried to do a few times).
